Super Sport Heads

The Super Sport head package was originally developed for the AMA Super Sport class where the rules don’t allow any head porting and stock cams and pistons must be run.

The Super Sport package is a great bang for the buck. It involves disassembly, cleaning, a valve job, milling the head, reassembly with new valve seals and shimming the cams so its ready to bolt on.

This combination when degreeing the cams in will still run on pump gas for the street and make great power.
An example is the zx14 SS head that will make 200-207 HP tuned on a Dynojet 250i with a pipe, power commander, and a good race fuel. You need to degree in the cams and check piston to valve clearances.

NOTE:   ZX14 cams are quite a bit more expensive than busa or zx12 cams because of the added cost to have the journals hard chromed.  This is due to the light weight design of the cams so the journals must be reground to make the cams true again after hard face welding.

There is quite a bit more CNC machining involved with the stage 3 ZX14 head.
The stock buckets wells need to be bored out for the larger 28mm Busa buckets
and the head and cam caps must be CNC machined for clearance so the larger cam lobes clear.
